Create A Stage started on the road, not in a boardroom. STAGEGRID came first — a stage design tool built because the plotting software we were using on tour wasn't made for the road. Slow, bloated apps designed for permanent installs don't hold up when you're plotting a stage and preparing the rider on venue wifi that keeps dropping.

So we built the tool we wished we had — fast, offline-ready, and focused on the things that actually matter during a show: cable runs, floor plans, and paper ops you can hand off without a decoder ring. Once STAGEGRID was solving that problem well, the same approach kept surfacing other gaps: cue and lyric prompting that had to survive a real SMPTE feed and a bad monitor mix (WIRECUE), and visuals that could be driven live instead of painstakingly pre-programmed (LUMEN).

All three now live under Create A Stage — separate apps, same philosophy. Every product is built by people who've stood at FOH or side of stage themselves, for production managers, programmers, and designers working everything from fringe theatre runs to stadium tours. No subscription traps, no seat-count tricks — just software that works when the venue wifi doesn't.
